3 Financial Companies You Should Know About

by John Frainee on September 7, 2012

Occasionally a company comes along that introduces innovation into the marketplace. They’re different, they’re outliers, and they’re helpful in ways we never thought possible. Here are three financial companies I’ve gotten to know and believe provide tremendous value to their customers.

1. PerkStreet Financial

PerkStreet [review here] is one of my favorites. Why? They offer their customers 1% cash back on their everyday debit card purchases. That’s huge! In addition, they have great 2% offerings and PowerPerks with an even greater percentage of cash back on specific purchases.

So far I’ve earned over $600 in perks from PerkStreet Financial. Love it!

2. Betterment

A rising star, Betterment [review here] gives its customers a super easy way to invest their money. Whether they’re just looking for a better rate of return than a CD or wanting to save for retirement, Betterment delivers tremendous value for their customers.

If you are afraid to invest, check out Betterment and see just how easy it is.

3. You Need A Budget (YNAB)

I know what you’re thinking. Budgeting software isn’t really a company, right? Well, they actually are. In fact, YNAB offers free online classes to teach you how to start good budget habits, discover your true expenses, and more.

With sound financial principles built in, YNAB is a company that gives its customers powerful ways to handle their money.

Which of these three financial companies do you like best? What’s your favorite bank, investing broker, or piece of budgeting software? Leave a comment!

I’m currently using Perkstreet and love my perks! Getting paid to spend the money I would normally spend is a great deal! The only thing I wish they had was an app to allow mobile deposits. I heard a rumor earlier this year that they are working to implement an electronic envelope system within user accounts to help budget more effectively. I’m eagerly awaiting these features! I’ve considered YNAB but haven’t tried it yet. I’m using Mint because it’s free, online and accessible anywhere a browser loads. But it’s always a day behind with balance updates, as well as having an app. I also use PocketMoney app with its budgeting features but it doesn’t allow rollovers or to manually set up the date ranges.

  2. Hey Heather, yeah I hear that PerkStreet is working pretty hard on a mobile app and envelope budgeting. They just launched PowerPerks, so I think these things will be on the front burner now. Thanks for being a reader!
