How Our Nation is Financing Nearly Everything with Loans

by John Frainee on April 28, 2012

This video has been going around for some time now, but I thought it was worth sharing for those of you who haven’t seen it. It’s a great metaphor for what we’re doing on a national scale.

I don’t know about you, but I cringed when I watched this video. It’s so powerful to take a national problem and reduce it down to an individual level.

Leave a comment below and tell me what you think. More importantly, how do we solve this problem?

  1. I’ve read that if they leave military salaries plus the various other entitlement programs like social security, medicare, and the other welfare related programs as is, and cut every single other goverenment program completely to zero, it still wouldn’t balance the budget. To fix this mess is going to require very deep, very painful cuts, and cuts in areas that are probably needed programs. I don’t know that we have anyone in Washington with the courage to do it, because if they did do what is needed, they would almos assuredly find themselves voted out at the next election.

  2. Wow, this was a good video, it does really hit home with what continues to go on with our nation as a whole and personal financial decisions and behaviors. Definitely encouraging on my path to being debt free, thanks for sharing!

    Hi John

Thanks for posting this. It does a very good job of exposing what the Federal Reserve has done to the nations finances. Remember the book we discuss at Peter and Holly wedding, “Creature for Jekyll Island”.

Keep up the good work and God Bless you and you wife.

  4. Wow, this was my first time seeing this video. All I can say is that I am glad if I die today, I will not pass any debt on to my son.

  5. All I can say is wow and disturbing! Thanks for posting.

  6. Kent, thank you for writing! Yes, I remember the book, and I’ll truly have to read it! It’s on one of my reading lists somewhere, but I put it in my iBooks app so now I won’t forget about it. :)

Thanks for the reminder and God bless!

    John

  7. Bob, thanks for commenting. I agree that painful cuts will have to come – we have to prepare! It’s not enough to prepare financially, but we must prepare our minds and spirits for those who will be desperate for help when the painful cuts are made. God can bring us through, and there is hope!
