After quite the controversial change this year to their cash back debit card rewards program, PerkStreet (see review) is loading something new in its arsenal to attract new customers. They call it “PowerPerks 2.0.” What’s so great about this new program? Here’s what you need to know.
PerkStreet PowerPerks 2.0 Changes
We know a couple of things about the new ways you’ll be able to make cash back with your snazzy black PerkStreet card. Here are the key points:
1. You get more places to earn bonus cash back.
PerkStreet previously offered about 4 places (this varies) to earn 5% cash back on your non-PIN purchases every month. PowerPerks 2.0 increases this number to between 4 and 10.
2. You get more frequent deals.
Every week there are new PowerPerks at specific merchants. Over time, PerkStreet plans to make the offers more and more tailored to what you want to buy.
3. You get more cash back.
On some of the new PowerPerks, you’ll get upwards of 25% cash back! Wow, that’s a big deal! The question you might be wondering is: How specific are these deals and will any of these deals really be something we’re interested in as customers? From my conversation with the PerkStreet team, it sounds like they have plans for a comprehensive system that will make offers based on your purchase history and interests.
4. There is no limit on how much you can earn with PowerPerks.
This is good news . . . really good news! I know many of you weren’t fans when PerkStreet limited their 2% cash back category. Hopefully this will offset a lot of what was lost.
Final Thoughts
The PowerPerks 2.0 program is similar to other virtual coupon websites. You simply spend with your card, and you’ll get a certain amount of money off of a specified purchase. For example, you might get $10 off of a $50 purchase if you buy something by a certain date.
If you’re not a PerkStreet customer yet, I recommend taking a look at their offerings. Truly, PerkStreet blows away other cash back debit cards and spending with a debit card keeps you responsible to spend less than you earn.
