The Christian Dollar Update: February 2010

by John on February 8, 2010

Hello friends.

I’d like to share a few thoughts regarding the website on a monthly basis. Hopefully this will provide you with some insight into the inner workings of The Christian Dollar and a glimpse into where all this is going.

First, a little history about my online endeavors. I started becoming interested in finance and even wrote an ebook on the topic a few years ago. Since then, my views regarding finance have changed. It’s not that my views in the past were vastly wrong, they were just . . . untried and ignorant of risk.

After this timeframe, I started getting more serious about finance than ever before. I knew that risk was something that needed to be accounted for, and I wasn’t about to enter life with little to no thought on the topic.

I started reading books and blogs. I watched financial shows and heard stories of those who have failed and succeeded. I was inspired by Dave Ramsey’s teachings. I questioned the essence of how most handle money and fought against my self-imposed boundaries.

I wanted something more. I had to find another way of living. I couldn’t work my whole life and find that I’ve reached the end with nothing to show for it. I had to help others and build a strong foundation for my family.

Last year, I started PlainCents.com. Due to the confusion over the spelling of the name, I decided to migrate my efforts over to TheChristianDollar.com. The new name was also more reflective of the content I was writing.

I have many goals for The Christian Dollar. Over the last few years I pushed myself to learn a bit of HTML and online tools that continue to draw more people. We’re in the beginning phases, no doubt. But I feel this site is different than the others. God has something planned for us here, and I believe that if I can convince just one individual to cut up their Discover card, I’ve discovered my objective.

Right now, there about 15 to 20 dedicated readers of The Christian Dollar. To you, I say thanks. It’s an honor to be writing something that you’re interested in. You’re the pioneers here. You’re the reason I spend hours working on articles and revising the site. You have no idea how much you mean to me. If you haven’t subscribed yet, please do!

All of you out there have a story. I’d love to hear it. Contact me and write for The Christian Dollar. We need other Christian perspectives on the area of finance.

How can I help?

Spreading the word! If you know someone who would benefit from The Christian Dollar, please pass the word along. Send friends and family emails, encourage them to subscribe, and get the word out!

I’m looking forward to the future of The Christian Dollar. Thanks for being such amazing readers. God bless.
