Why Taking Time with your Customers is Important

by John on February 6, 2010

I’ve worked in sales for several years. There is a paradoxical truth that I’ve found from taking time with customers . . . you earn more money. It seems counterintuitive, but it’s true.

How so? After all, aren’t you losing the ability to greet yet another customer and make a sale? Maybe so. But I’m convinced that spending quality time with customers will result in happier customers who will gladly recommend you. Not only that, but the customer will want YOU to make the sale and seek you out out of the other salespeople.

These strengths outweigh the weakness of losing a few potential customers. Think about it. Wouldn’t you rather have 5 people refer you to their friends and family than have 10 people who wouldn’t? Of course! The potential customers that those 5 people would bring could far outweigh the advantage of helping 5 more people that day.

If you’re in sales, take this concept to heart. Imbed it in the minds of your fellow employees, and watch the results!
