3 Tips to Negotiate a Great Bargain
For those of us who are super money-savers, we always are looking for ways to get a good bargain. Money is a mind game, and in order to negotiate a good bargain it takes dedication to these three principles:
- Patience. Lots of it. Be willing to walk out of the store and come back another day. Salespeople love it when you are impulsive. It makes their job so much easier! Try sleeping on a big decision. You might even find that you really don’t want the item or service you wanted yesterday!
- Flashing the cash. This is a great way to produce an emotional reaction in a business owner. Don’t be rude about it, but show the salesperson you have some money and you are ready to spend if the deal is right! This technique doesn’t always work with corporations, but you can bet that small business owners will jump on the opportunity!
- Search for deals. Often times, you can find a coupon or flyer that gives you the ability to get a discount. There are also great places you can find deals: garage sales, repo lots, flea markets, and pawn shops. Drive around and find yourself a deal!
Keep in mind that every situation is different. Some places, you shouldn’t flash the cash. Other places, you’ll need a lot more patience than usual. Don’t be afraid to mix up your strategies as you see fit.
Do you have a story of a time you got a great deal? How’d you do it?
