Do You Really Need Your Sleep?
Yes. You do. Try missing a night and see what happens.
If you’re like many people, you probably aren’t getting a lot of sleep. You might blame it on work, your responsibilities, or children, but where there’s a will, there’s a way. How much time are you spending watching TV instead of taking a nap midday? Remember, you have more time than you think.
The Bible says,
In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat–for he grants sleep to those he loves. – Psalm 127:2 (NIV)
Clearly, sleep is from the Lord and something he desires for you . . . one he loves!
Well what if you can’t sleep? Consider this verse:
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
Ask God for rest. He’ll help you through this.
I remember a time when I could hardly sleep – my mind was just too active! If you find your wheels turning as you’re trying to fall asleep, figure out something that can get your mind off your work. Prayer helps a lot. (Another thing that worked for me: wearing socks to bed and drinking a cup of milk)
You need your sleep to get through your day and not make as many mistakes. Don’t think that sleeping is being lazy! Find ways to take care of yourself and get your rest.
Just a little important reminder.
